Krriyan Kontainers, previously known as Darshan Flexibles, is expanding its operations into holographic solutions for the packaging industry in India. The Mysore-based company, which specializes in printing and converting conventional flexible packaging materials and manufacturing composite canisters, aims to meet the growing demand from brand owners for unique and counterfeit-proof packaging solutions.

Holographic solutions offer the ability to create distinctive packaging that cannot be easily replicated. These solutions can be applied across various packaging segments, including cartons and shrink sleeves. The company is investing in advanced infrastructure to support its holographic offerings, aiming to provide innovative solutions that have not been seen before in the country.

“There is a growing demand among brand owners to make their packaging unique and counterfeiting-proof. That is where holographic solutions come into play. These solutions can be applied in a variety of packaging segments such as cartons and shrink sleeves, among many others. We are doing things that have never been done before in the country. We are setting up a beautiful infrastructure for this. At the moment, we will not be able to talk much about the set-up,” Ashwinni Kumar, managing director, Krriyan Kontainers, said during the recently concluded Propak India 2023.

Holograms are created with aluminum sheets that undergo multiple processes to acquire optical properties, enabling them to diffract light and produce virtual 3D effects. These holographic films are tamper-proof and can help identify any misuse or unauthorized copying.

Krriyan Kontainers’ decision to diversify into holographic solutions stems from the intense competition and commoditization of the conventional flexible packaging market in India. By entering the holographic segment, Krriyan Kontainers seeks to achieve faster growth, higher margins, and reduced competition, aligning with its strategy to explore new avenues for business expansion.

“The conventional flexible packaging market in India is highly competitive and commoditized. So, we thought if our company has to grow faster, we need to get into segments that offer faster growth and higher margins and are not too crowded. That is why we decided to get into holographic solutions,” Kumar says.
